The History of the Youth Football League/USA Inc.
Football, and Cheerleading program:
The YFL began its inaugural season in 2005, with the idea formulated by Anthony (Tony) Walter, who sought the assistance of his spouse Dian Walter, as well as others to assist with the accelerated movement of his vision.
The assistance of Members of the Board of Directors, the Board of Presidents, Advisors, and the assistance of Multiple School Districts, have played an intricate part in the multiplicity growth of the YFL/USA youth Football/Cheerleading program throughout the city of Houston, with the anticipation of going National.
The league started out with seven local organizations which consist of four teams and a cheer squad, and has since grown to twenty-one organizations.
The recipients of those that have shared in the YFL/USA experience, and that have been sincere in their involvement, and commitment, with the League, continue to work together, striving for constant development to improve the product being offered.
Mr. Walter's vision, as well as others is to aid in the continued growth of making the YFL/USA the “Best” league possible for our boys, and girls!
The YFL/USA affiliation with AAU (Amateur Athletics Union) has brought national recognition, to this local league, by supporting the AAU Football National Championship, in which an organization within this competitive league conquered the 12U division in 2009.
The YFL/USA continues to host its annual tournament labeled “The Battle of the South” in which Mr. Walter successfully brings stiff competition together from all areas of Houston, as well as out of state for the…..BATTLE!
Mr. Walter was granted the rights to host the AAU Unrestricted National Championship, throughout the state of Texas for the past two consecutive years.
